DEAR PRITCHETT FAMILIES,
The first full month of school is now behind us. How quickly time goes by! We have enjoyed highlighting last month’s Portrait of a Graduate trait, responsibility. In October we will focus on the traits of determination. When a teacher sees a student demonstrating determination, that child will be acknowledged by having his/her name and actions shared during morning announcements. Afterward, the student will come to the office and will be given an orange wristband. The orange wristband is our way of congratulating children for modeling the important character trait of being determined.
I would also like to point out the critical importance of regular attendance in ensuring academic success and overall student well-being. Consistent attendance lays the foundation for continuous learning, allowing students to fully engage in lessons, participate in class discussions, and build upon prior knowledge. When students attend school regularly, they are more likely to develop strong relationships with peers and teachers, contributing to a positive and supportive school environment. Chronic absenteeism, on the other hand, can lead to learning gaps, decreased motivation, and social isolation, which is why we need to work together—teachers, parents, and the school community—to encourage and support regular attendance for all students.
For your children,
Dr. Matt K. Moreland, Principal
