On Monday, April 30 the Board of Education invited music, band, orchestra, and chorus teachers to attend the board meeting for a special recognition.
District 102 was recently named one of the "Best Communities for Music Education" by the NAAM Foundation for the 10th year in a row. Board President, Jordan Sklansky, thanked our music teachers for their dedication to their work and awarded them with a certificate of achievement. Our district is so proud of its robust music programs and sees the great value in music education for our students.
Brooke Strauss (Meridian and Aptakisic band teacher), Nicole Vettraino Stott (Aptakisic orchestra teacher), and Gail Simon (Aptakisic Chorus and music teacher) attended the meeting in person. Millie Frank (Aptakisic music teacher), Gina Soto (Tripp music teacher), and Jacqueline Pacanowski (Meridian music teacher) joined the meeting via zoom. Paul Jenkin (Meridian and Aptakisic orchestra teacher), Nina Binder (Pritchett music teacher), and Allison Rakickas (Aptakisic band teacher) could not attend the meeting but were all recognized and will receive a certificate as well.
